Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech & Language Therapist to join our dynamic team within an Oasis school in Macclesfield. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic professional looking to make a significant impact on children’s lives. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating children with a wide range of communication difficulties, working closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists. We offer visa sponsorship for eligible international candidates who are passionate about supporting children’s development in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify children's speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans, including direct therapy and group work.
  • Provide advice and training to school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies to support communication development.
  • Monitor and evaluate children's progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and contribute to EHCP reviews.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, SENCOs, and educational psychologists.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and supervision.
  • Adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines set by relevant regulatory bodies.

Required Skills

  • Recognised degree in Speech & Language Therapy (e.g., BSc, MSc, or equivalent).
  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or eligibility for registration.
  • Excellent clinical skills in assessing and treating a diverse paediatric caseload.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Understanding of the UK education system and relevant legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working as a Speech & Language Therapist within a school setting.
  • Experience with a range of communication disorders, including ASC, DLD, and speech sound disorders.
  • Familiarity with various assessment tools and intervention approaches.
  • Experience in delivering training and workshops to non-specialists.
