Job Description
Are you passionate about visual aesthetics and eager to learn the art of retail display? The Hudson’s Bay Company in Iqaluit is seeking a motivated and creative individual to join our Visual Merchandising team as a Retail Mannequin Dresser (Trainee). This entry-level position is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a desire to develop their skills in visual merchandising. You will work closely with experienced merchandisers to transform our store environments, ensuring our mannequins and displays are always captivating and reflect the latest trends and promotional themes. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in dressing and undressing mannequins according to visual merchandising guidelines and seasonal directives.
- Arrange clothing, accessories, and props on mannequins to create visually appealing and fashion-forward displays.
- Ensure all mannequins and display elements are clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition.
- Support the visual merchandising team in executing floor moves, new product placements, and promotional setups.
- Maintain an organized and tidy visual merchandising backroom, including managing inventory of props, mannequins, and display materials.
- Learn and adhere to all company visual standards and safety procedures.
- Provide regular feedback on display effectiveness and customer engagement to the visual merchandising manager.
- Collaborate with sales associates to ensure displays align with stock levels and current promotions.
- Stay informed on current fashion trends and competitor displays to contribute fresh ideas.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong interest in fashion, retail, and visual presentation
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and carry display items (up to 25 lbs) for extended periods
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and styles
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail environment, even in a non-visual role
- Coursework or demonstrable interest in art, design, fashion, or visual merchandising
- A portfolio (even informal) showcasing creativity or styling ability
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
