Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Planetary Defense & Asteroid Mining Intern to join our cutting-edge research and development team. This unique internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to pioneering projects at the intersection of space science, engineering, and resource utilization. The intern will support research into methods for identifying, tracking, and deflecting potentially hazardous asteroids, as well as exploring technologies and strategies for extracting valuable resources from near-Earth objects. This role provides hands-on experience with real-world space challenges and exposure to state-of-the-art aerospace and resource engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and simulation of asteroid tracking and trajectory prediction models.
  • Conduct research on various asteroid deflection strategies and their feasibility.
  • Support preliminary design and analysis for asteroid mining mission concepts and resource extraction techniques.
  • Analyze data from astronomical observations and spacecraft missions related to near-Earth objects.
  • Contribute to technical reports, presentations, and scientific papers.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and scientists on interdisciplinary projects.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute innovative ideas.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in scientific computing languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
  • Basic understanding of orbital mechanics and celestial dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, Geology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with space mission design or simulation software.
  • Knowledge of asteroid geology and resource composition.
  • Familiarity with CAD software or finite element analysis tools.
