Job Description
We are seeking a highly dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Nurse to join our renowned pediatric services team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic nursing care to pediatric patients with various medical and surgical conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
- Monitor and document patient progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and preferences are respected.
- Participate in ward rounds, clinical meetings, and contribute to care planning discussions.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and students as required.
- Engage in continuous professional development and maintain clinical competency.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (Child) qualification with active NMC registration (or eligibility for NMC registration).
- Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in a pediatric setting.
- Demonstrable experience in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating pediatric nursing care.
- Excellent clinical skills relevant to pediatric nursing, including medication administration, wound care, and vital sign monitoring.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Commitment to delivering patient-centred care with empathy and compassion.
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal) to a high standard, meeting NMC requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialist post-registration qualification in a pediatric sub-specialty (e.g., PICU, Oncology, Cardiology).
- Experience with electronic patient record systems.
- Leadership or mentorship experience within a nursing team.
- Advanced life support certification (e.g., PALS/APLS).
- Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to lifelong learning.
