Job Description
Join Fraser Health Authority as a Hospital Porter and become an essential part of our patient care team. This entry-level, full-time position offers comprehensive training, making it ideal for individuals passionate about contributing to a supportive healthcare environment, regardless of prior experience. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients, medical equipment, and supplies throughout our facility, playing a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients via stretchers, wheelchairs, and beds to and from various departments, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, and supplies to designated areas as required.
- Assist with patient transfers and positioning under the guidance of nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
- Respond promptly to requests for transport services.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to push, pull, and lift various weights as required for patient and equipment transport.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (will provide training if not held).
- Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
- Familiarity with hospital environments (not required, full training provided).
