Job Description

Join Fraser Health Authority as a Hospital Porter and become an essential part of our patient care team. This entry-level, full-time position offers comprehensive training, making it ideal for individuals passionate about contributing to a supportive healthcare environment, regardless of prior experience. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of patients, medical equipment, and supplies throughout our facility, playing a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients via stretchers, wheelchairs, and beds to and from various departments, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, and supplies to designated areas as required.
  • Assist with patient transfers and positioning under the guidance of nursing staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Respond promptly to requests for transport services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to push, pull, and lift various weights as required for patient and equipment transport.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification (will provide training if not held).
  • Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role.
  • Familiarity with hospital environments (not required, full training provided).
