Job Description
We are urgently seeking dedicated and reliable Pathology Specimen Porters to join our fast-paced laboratory and hospital team. This critical role ensures the timely, accurate, and safe transportation of pathology specimens, medical records, and other urgent items within the hospital and between departments. You will play a vital part in the diagnostic process, directly contributing to patient care by handling sensitive materials with the utmost precision and adherence to strict protocols. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, transport, and deliver pathology specimens (e.g., blood, urine, tissue samples) from wards, clinics, and other collection points to the appropriate laboratory departments.
- Adhere strictly to all specimen handling, labelling, and transportation protocols to maintain specimen integrity and patient confidentiality.
- Ensure timely delivery of urgent specimens to facilitate rapid diagnostic testing.
- Transport medical records, equipment, and other items as required between hospital departments.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation of specimen movements.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, clinicians, and ward personnel regarding specimen collection and delivery status.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control policies, at all times.
- Report any issues with specimen integrity, equipment, or transport routes promptly.
- Assist with general laboratory support tasks as directed, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
