Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and reliable Salt Spreader Driver for a temporary, high-demand position during the winter season. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and accessibility of various commercial and industrial properties by effectively operating salt spreading equipment during inclement weather events. You will be responsible for applying de-icing agents to designated areas, maintaining equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols. This is an immediate need position requiring flexibility for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate salt spreader trucks and related equipment to apply de-icing agents to roads, parking lots, and walkways as directed.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any maintenance needs or issues promptly.
- Monitor weather conditions and respond quickly to call-outs for de-icing operations.
- Maintain accurate logs of routes, materials used, and hours worked.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, traffic laws, and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding operational status and any on-site challenges.
- Ensure equipment is clean, fueled, and ready for immediate deployment at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) of professional driving experience, preferably with heavy equipment or commercial vehicles.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, often on short notice, based on weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and road regulations.
- Physical ability to perform duties in adverse weather conditions (cold, snow, ice) and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Reliable transportation to and from our Grand Prairie facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience operating salt spreading or snow removal equipment.
- Familiarity with Grand Prairie and surrounding area road networks.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting.
