Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Orthodontic Therapist (Trainee) at our Bupa Dental Care clinic in Clarendon Park, Leicester. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated individual looking to embark on a rewarding career path within orthodontics. As a Trainee, you will receive comprehensive training and support, learning alongside experienced professionals, to develop the essential skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Orthodontic Therapist. You will play a vital role in assisting our orthodontists and contributing to the excellent standard of patient care we provide, helping patients achieve confident smiles.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Orthodontists with various orthodontic procedures, preparing clinical areas and instruments.
- Learn to perform direct and indirect bonding of orthodontic brackets and appliances under supervision.
- Develop skills in adjusting and removing orthodontic appliances as directed by the Orthodontist.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure clinical notes are up-to-date.
- Adhere to all clinical governance, health and safety, and infection control protocols.
- Participate actively in all required training and development programs.
- Provide excellent patient care and ensure a comfortable and reassuring experience for all patients.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- A genuine passion for dentistry and patient care.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and commit to a demanding training program.
- Basic IT proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, Maths, and at least two science subjects (Biology/Chemistry preferred).
- Previous experience in a dental setting (e.g., dental nurse) is an advantage but not essential.
- A demonstrable interest in orthodontics and career progression within the field.
