Job Description
As a Night Shift Supermarket Assistant at ASDA in Blackpool, you will be crucial to our store’s efficient operation. Working through the night, you will be responsible for receiving, stocking, and organising merchandise, ensuring product availability and presentation standards are met. This role involves physical work, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe shopping environment for our customers. You will play a key part in preparing the store for the next day’s trading, working as part of a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload deliveries and move products from the stockroom to the sales floor efficiently.
- Replenish shelves, ensuring products are correctly priced, dated, and rotated.
- Organise and maintain stock in the backroom and on the sales floor, adhering to visual merchandising standards.
- Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of the store premises during closing hours.
- Operate store equipment safely and effectively (e.g., pallet trucks, cage movers) after receiving appropriate training.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and store operational procedures.
- Support the team in achieving daily operational targets and preparing the store for opening.
- Ensure all waste is managed and recycled appropriately.
- Assist in preparing promotional displays and new product launches.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a night shift environment.
- Good physical fitness and stamina for lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and commitment to shift patterns.
- Basic communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Experience working night shifts.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in a retail setting.
- Familiarity with stock rotation and merchandising principles.
