Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Music Teacher to join our dynamic Arts department. The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring young musicians and will possess a strong commitment to delivering exceptional music education across all key stages. This role offers the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of musical disciplines, contribute to our thriving extra-curricular programme, and help shape the future musical direction of our school.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons to students from Key Stage 3 to A-Level, adhering to the national curriculum and school standards.
- Assess, monitor, record, and report on the learning and progress of students, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Develop and implement creative teaching strategies to foster a love of music and enhance student musical literacy and performance skills.
- Contribute to the school's extensive extra-curricular music programme, including directing choirs, orchestras, ensembles, and preparing students for performances and examinations.
- Organise and participate in school concerts, productions, and other musical events.
- Maintain a well-resourced and stimulating learning environment, including managing musical instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with colleagues within the Arts department and across the school to promote cross-curricular learning.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development opportunities, and wider school initiatives.
- Uphold the safeguarding policies and pastoral care standards of the school.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- A degree in Music or a related subject.
- Demonstrable experience teaching Music across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level.
- Excellent musical proficiency in at least one instrument or voice.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities and backgrounds.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and innovative teaching practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience directing choirs, orchestras, or other musical ensembles.
- Proficiency in music technology and composition software.
- Knowledge of various musical genres and pedagogical approaches.
- Experience with external music examinations boards (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity).
- A Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
