Job Description
We are urgently seeking dedicated and reliable Loading Bay Operatives to join our night shift team in Chattanooga. This is an immediate start position, crucial for maintaining the efficiency of our logistics operations. As a Loading Bay Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and swift movement of packages and freight within our busy distribution center, ensuring all items are handled with care and processed accurately for onward shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload trucks and containers efficiently and safely using appropriate equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts if certified).
- Scan and sort packages, freight, and cargo according to destination and shipping requirements.
- Verify shipments for accuracy and report any discrepancies or damages.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Operate warehouse equipment responsibly and perform routine checks as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet operational deadlines.
- Be able to work consistent night shifts and be available for overtime as needed.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for night shift operations.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or loading bay environment.
- Forklift certification and experience operating powered industrial trucks.
- Familiarity with scanning equipment and inventory management systems.
