Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically fit Loading Bay Operative to join our dedicated night shift team in St. George’s. This is an immediate start position crucial for the efficient flow of goods through our busy logistics hub. As a Loading Bay Operative, you will be responsible for the safe and timely loading and unloading of parcels and freight, ensuring all items are correctly sorted, scanned, and prepared for dispatch or further processing. This role requires commitment to working during night hours and adherence to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments manually or using appropriate equipment.
- Sort and categorize parcels and freight according to destination and shipping instructions.
- Accurately scan and process all items, updating tracking systems as required.
- Inspect shipments for damage and report any discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the loading bay.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified) safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and regulations, especially during night operations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Perform other general warehouse duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Ability to work consistently on night shifts.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels and completing paperwork.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar operative role.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Familiarity with scanning technology and warehouse management systems.
