Job Description
Apotex Inc. is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our scientific team in Vaughan. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about science and looking to start their career in a fast-paced laboratory setting. The successful candidate will provide essential support to our senior scientists and researchers, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of laboratory activities. This role involves ongoing work, offering continuous learning and development within the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory samples and reagents according to established protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness, calibration, and proper function.
- Record experimental data accurately and meticulously in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems.
- Assist scientists with routine experiments and procedures.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies and proper storage of materials.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
- Dispose of chemical and biological waste in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a college diploma or university degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry).
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting, including academic or volunteer work.
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
