Job Description
ABM Industries is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our team as Commercial Kitchen Hood Cleaners for the night shift. This vital role involves the thorough cleaning and degreasing of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ductwork, and fans, to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and maintain optimal kitchen hygiene. This physically demanding position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team during late hours. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive cleaning and degreasing of commercial kitchen exhaust systems (hoods, filters, ducts, fans).
- Utilize specialized tools, equipment, and cleaning agents safely and effectively.
- Inspect kitchen exhaust systems for damage, wear, or excessive grease build-up and report findings.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including confined space entry and working at heights.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of waste and chemicals.
- Document services performed and complete required paperwork accurately.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards and in compliance with industry regulations (e.g., NFPA 96).
Required Skills
- Ability to work night shifts and occasional weekends.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols when working with chemicals and machinery.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial kitchen cleaning, janitorial services, or a related field.
- Familiarity with NFPA 96 standards.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Experience operating pressure washers or similar industrial cleaning equipment.
- WHMIS certification.
