Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and professional City Transit Bus Drivers to join the Orange County Transportation Authority. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating transit buses on designated routes, adhering to schedules, and providing exceptional customer service to all passengers. You will be an essential part of the public transportation network, ensuring residents reach their destinations reliably and comfortably.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit buses on assigned routes and schedules, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers, including assisting elderly or disabled individuals with boarding and exiting.
- Collect fares, issue transfers, and maintain accurate records of passenger counts and other operational data.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, answering questions about routes, schedules, and fares.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, reporting any mechanical issues or defects.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Respond to emergencies or incidents according to established procedures.
- Adhere to strict timelines and maintain punctuality.
- Demonstrate professionalism and courteous behavior at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger (P) endorsement and Airbrake restriction lifted.
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ability to manage unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience operating large vehicles or passenger transport.
- Familiarity with Orange County streets and transit routes.
- Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese) are a plus.
