Job Description

Are you passionate about animals and looking to start a rewarding career in animal care? Vets4Pets Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kennel Assistant to join our vibrant team. No prior experience is needed – we believe in nurturing talent and providing comprehensive training to the right candidate. Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitizing kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a high standard of hygiene.
  • Providing fresh food and water to animals according to their specific dietary requirements.
  • Assisting with walking, exercising, and socializing animals, following established protocols.
  • Monitoring animal behaviour and health, reporting any changes or concerns to veterinary staff.
  • Restocking supplies and ensuring the kennel area is always well-organized.
  • Assisting veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint and handling during examinations or procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of animal feeding, medication, and waste.
  • Comforting and providing companionship to animals, especially those who are anxious or recovering.

  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for long periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with animals (e.g., pet ownership, volunteering) is a bonus but not required.
  • Basic understanding of animal behaviour.
  • First aid certification (human or animal).
