Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Entry-Level Hospital Porter to join our team in Minneapolis. This full-time position offers comprehensive training, making it an ideal opportunity for individuals eager to start a career in healthcare without prior experience. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our hospital, contributing directly to patient comfort and safety. You will be responsible for transporting patients, equipment, and supplies throughout the facility, providing essential support to medical staff and ensuring a clean and organized environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport patients safely and comfortably by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to various areas of the hospital (e.g., operating rooms, diagnostic areas, patient rooms).
- Move medical equipment, laboratory specimens, and supplies between departments as required.
- Assist with patient transfers, ensuring proper lifting and moving techniques are used to prevent injury.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment and areas.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
- Respond promptly to requests for porter services.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control guidelines.
Required Skills
- Ability to push, pull, lift, and move heavy objects (e.g., patients on stretchers) frequently throughout an assigned shift.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
