Job Description

Serco is seeking dedicated and reliable Hospital Cleaners to join our team, working under a vital NHS contract in Salford, Greater Manchester. As a Hospital Cleaner, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within a healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks across various hospital areas, including wards, patient rooms, corridors, waiting areas, and offices, following established protocols.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a sterile environment.
- Safe handling, storage, and disposal of general, clinical, and hazardous waste in accordance with guidelines.
- Operate and maintain a range of cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, ensuring all areas are adequately stocked.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure all cleaning records are accurately maintained as required.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to support the smooth operation of hospital services.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in a healthcare setting.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly within a healthcare or similar environment.
- Familiarity with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
- An NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent qualification.
