Job Description

Serco is seeking dedicated and reliable Hospital Cleaners to join our team, working under a vital NHS contract in Salford, Greater Manchester. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks across various hospital areas, including wards, patient rooms, corridors, waiting areas, and offices, following established protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a sterile environment.
  • Safe handling, storage, and disposal of general, clinical, and hazardous waste in accordance with guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain a range of cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, ensuring all areas are adequately stocked.
  • Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • Ensure all cleaning records are accurately maintained as required.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to support the smooth operation of hospital services.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, particularly in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a cleaning role, particularly within a healthcare or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
  • An NVQ Level 1 in Cleaning and Support Services or equivalent qualification.
