Job Description
As a Hospital Cleaner (Environmental Services) at Horizon Health Network, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Your dedication to upholding stringent hygiene standards directly contributes to infection prevention and the overall well-being of our healthcare community. Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, operating theatres, laboratories, offices, waiting areas, and public spaces in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
- Operate and maintain various cleaning equipment, including floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
- Handle and dispose of biohazardous waste, general waste, and recyclable materials following proper safety protocols.
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper in washrooms and other areas.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies, safety guidelines, and all relevant health regulations.
- Ensure a high standard of cleanliness and appearance throughout the hospital facility.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and established procedures meticulously.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or commercial cleaning environment.
- Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
