Job Description

Join GFL Environmental Inc. as a Refuse Loader / Bin Collector and play a vital role in keeping our communities clean and safe. This full-time position in Calgary, Alberta, offers early morning starts, ensuring you beat the traffic and finish your day earlier, with the added benefit of weekly pay. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of waste materials from residential and commercial locations, contributing directly to the environmental health of Calgary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently on designated routes.
  • Physically load refuse, recycling, and organic materials into collection vehicles.
  • Navigate various routes, adhering to traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Interact respectfully with the public and address any inquiries professionally.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the vehicle and at job sites.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent team player with good communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (or equivalent provincial license).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in waste collection or general labor.
  • Knowledge of Calgary's road networks.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment.
