Job Description
Are you passionate about creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children? Fitness World is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Gym Childcare Attendant to join our team in Burnaby. This casual position offers you the opportunity to work flexible hours, providing exceptional care to children while their parents enjoy their workouts. Be a crucial part of our members’ fitness journey by giving them peace of mind that their little ones are in great hands. As a Childcare Attendant, you will be responsible for the direct supervision and engagement of children in our childcare facility. Your role is vital in ensuring a positive and secure experience for all children, allowing parents to focus on their health and wellness goals. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to children in the childcare area, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to keep children engaged and entertained.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic play environment, including sanitizing toys and equipment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents regarding their child's activities and any pertinent information.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety protocols, and licensing regulations related to childcare.
- Address minor conflicts or behavioral issues constructively and empathetically.
- Assist children with personal needs such as potty breaks or snack time, as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with children in a supervisory or caregiving capacity (e.g., babysitting, camp counselor, volunteer work).
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents.
- Demonstrated patience, energy, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to multitask and manage groups of children of varying ages.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses or related certifications.
- Previous experience in a gym childcare, daycare, school, or camp setting.
- Knowledge of child development stages and age-appropriate activities.
