Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Google Network Support Engineer to join our dynamic team in Exeter. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation and reliability of our network infrastructure, with a particular focus on supporting Google’s network technologies and services. You will be responsible for both field support, involving on-site visits to resolve complex issues, and remote support, providing technical assistance from our operational hub. This hybrid role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of network protocols and Google-specific network environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level field support for network infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Google network devices and services.
  • Deliver remote technical support to internal teams and clients, resolving network issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify potential issues, implementing preventative measures to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with Google technical teams and other vendors to escalate and resolve complex network problems.
  • Perform regular maintenance and upgrades to network hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical network incidents.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments for new network deployments and expansions.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
  • Experience with Google Cloud networking products (VPC, Cloud Interconnect, CDN).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex network issues.
  • Familiarity with network security best practices and tools.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash) for network automation.
  • Knowledge of data centre networking concepts.
  • Experience working in an ISP or large enterprise network environment.
