Job Description
As a Private Lab Specimen Porter, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our high-street private laboratory in Glasgow. Your primary responsibility will be the safe and timely transport of biological specimens between collection points and laboratory processing areas. This is a vital position that ensures the integrity of samples and contributes directly to the accuracy and speed of diagnostic services. We are looking for a reliable, conscientious individual who can work diligently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and securely transport biological specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) within the laboratory facility and to designated collection points.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen movements and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including biohazard handling and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all specimens and patient information.
- Assist with general laboratory support tasks as required, such as tidying and stock replenishment.
- Communicate effectively with lab staff and healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow strict protocols and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good physical stamina for frequent walking and lifting light to moderate loads.

- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
