Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Fleet Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our extensive fleet operations in Long Beach, CA. This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of fleet performance, ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and safety across our diverse range of vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of logistics, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of a large and diverse fleet, including planning, scheduling, and deployment.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization, reduce operating costs, and improve efficiency.
- Oversee fleet maintenance programs, ensuring vehicles and equipment are well-maintained and meet safety standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of fleet coordinators and operational staff.
- Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports for management.
- Manage vendor relationships with fuel suppliers, maintenance providers, and other service partners.
- Develop and manage the fleet operations budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and training programs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Utilize fleet management software and technology to track assets, manage routes, and monitor driver performance.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations, preferably in a large-scale environment.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, vehicle maintenance, and safety standards.
- Proficiency in fleet management software (e.g., Telematics, TMS).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certifications in fleet management (e.g., Certified Fleet Manager).
- Experience with intermodal transportation and port logistics.
- Lean Six Sigma certification or experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
