Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Industrial Electrician to join our critical operations team in Santa Clara, CA. As a FedEx Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within our large-scale industrial logistics facilities. This role demands a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and a deep understanding of industrial electrical codes and practices. You will work with complex machinery, conveyor systems, automation controls, and facility infrastructure to ensure continuous and reliable operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all electrical equipment and systems, including motors, control panels, lighting, and power distribution.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in complex industrial machinery and automated conveyor systems using schematics, multimeters, and other testing equipment.
- Install, repair, and upgrade electrical components and wiring in accordance with local and national electrical codes (NEC).
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure efficient material flow.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures and strictly adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical repairs, maintenance, and installations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians when necessary.
- Participate in facility improvement projects and equipment commissioning.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification in California
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician in a logistics, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Strong understanding of PLC logic, motor controls, VFDs, and sensor technologies
- Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing 3-phase power systems (up to 480V)
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical safety standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or related field
- Experience with building management systems (BMS) and facility controls
- Familiarity with conveyor systems used in parcel sortation facilities
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
