Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Laboratory Operations Manager with a strong administrative chemistry focus to lead our team in Visalia, CA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operational activities of our chemistry laboratory, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and the highest standards of quality. This role involves managing laboratory staff, optimizing workflows, maintaining chemical inventory, ensuring safety protocols, and contributing to the overall strategic development of the lab. A deep understanding of administrative processes within a chemistry lab environment is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow optimization.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of laboratory technicians and chemists.
- Ensure strict adherence to quality control procedures, safety regulations (OSHA, EPA), and regulatory requirements (e.g., GLP, ISO 17025).
- Oversee chemical inventory management, procurement, storage, and disposal in compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for analytical methods and administrative tasks.
- Manage laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, monitoring expenditures and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, productivity, and analytical capabilities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reporting for all laboratory activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in laboratory operations management, specifically in a chemistry-focused environment.
- Strong knowledge of chemical safety protocols, hazardous waste management, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, EPA, GLP, ISO 17025).
- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement complex scientific and administrative guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with lean laboratory principles or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with environmental testing or agricultural chemistry analyses.
