Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Export Fumigation Assistant to join our team in Saskatoon. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for preparing containers for international shipping, specifically focusing on the safe and effective application of fumigants to protect agricultural commodities from pests. This position requires adherence to strict safety protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic port environment. You will work closely with our fumigation specialists, ensuring all export regulations and quality standards are met before shipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare shipping containers for fumigation, including cleaning and sealing.
- Assist certified fumigators in the application of fumigation treatments.
- Monitor fumigation processes and ensure proper aeration of containers post-treatment.
- Maintain detailed records of fumigation activities, including dates, chemicals used, and container information.
- Conduct pre-shipment inspections to verify container integrity and commodity readiness.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment used in fumigation and container handling.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or non-compliance issues promptly.
- Assist with general warehouse duties and container loading/unloading as required.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment operation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments (e.g., dusty, confined spaces).
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a logistics, warehouse, agricultural, or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with pest control methods or fumigation processes.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
