Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Damaged Goods Sorter to join our Kettering distribution centre. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the efficient sorting, logging, and proper disposal of damaged or unsaleable items. Your attention to detail will ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with company waste management policies. This position requires someone who is organized, can work independently, and is committed to maintaining a high standard of operational cleanliness and order.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming damaged goods from various departments.
- Categorize and sort damaged items according to company guidelines (e.g., salvageable, returnable, discard).
- Accurately log all damaged items into the inventory system, noting reasons for damage.
- Prepare items for disposal or return, adhering to environmental and company regulations.
- Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks) safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all waste is correctly segregated.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding damaged stock issues.
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures and policies.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 15kg.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or retail environment.
- Knowledge of waste management or inventory control practices.
- Experience with inventory management software.
