Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Criminal Justice & Criminology Intern to join our Law Enforcement team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience within a leading police service, working alongside seasoned professionals. The intern will contribute to various aspects of law enforcement operations, research, and community initiatives, providing valuable insight into the application of criminal justice principles in a real-world setting. This role is designed for students or recent graduates looking to launch a career in policing, criminology, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research and analysis of crime trends, statistical data, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support various police units with administrative tasks, data entry, and report generation.
  • Participate in community outreach programs and public education initiatives.
  • Observe and learn from officers in different divisions, including patrol, investigations, and community services.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at improving public safety and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare summaries and presentations on findings for internal review.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all police service policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or related program.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated interest in law enforcement and public safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer experience in a community or public service setting.
  • Familiarity with policing databases or statistical software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian criminal law and legal processes.
  • Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
