Job Description
As a Connectivity Specialist focused on Wi-Fi and Network Support, you will be a critical member of our technical team in Kanata, responsible for ensuring seamless and reliable network connectivity for our clients. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex Wi-Fi and network-related issues, as well as contributing to the implementation and optimization of network solutions. You will work with cutting-edge technology to maintain high standards of performance and security across our diverse network environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for Wi-Fi and wired network infrastructure, including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
- Diagnose and resolve complex network connectivity issues, performance problems, and security vulnerabilities.
- Perform network monitoring, analyze logs, and utilize diagnostic tools to identify root causes of incidents.
- Implement, configure, and maintain network hardware and software components.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support as required.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in network technology.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in network administration and support.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching.
- Expertise in Wi-Fi technologies (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and wireless security protocols.
- Experience with network diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, iPerf).
- Familiarity with network security principles and firewall configurations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, or equivalent.
- Experience with enterprise-level network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Meraki).
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python).
- Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in a telecommunications or ISP environment.
