Job Description

We are seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated Commis Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team at Casa Hotel, Chesterfield. This is an incredible opportunity for an aspiring chef to learn from experienced professionals, develop essential culinary skills, and contribute to a high-standard dining operation. You will support the senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, from ingredient preparation to plating, ensuring the highest standards of food quality and hygiene. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cooking ingredients.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workstation and kitchen environment, adhering to strict hygiene and safety standards.
  • Support in the preparation and presentation of dishes according to company recipes and standards.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management and rotation of ingredients.
  • Learn and adapt to various cooking techniques and methods under the guidance of experienced chefs.
  • Handle kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of kitchen operations and culinary terms.
  • Strong passion for food and cooking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen or similar hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP).
  • First Aid certification.
