Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced City Recreation Center Supervisor to lead the operations of one of our key community recreation facilities. This full-time, on-site position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of the center, the delivery of high-quality recreational programs, and the provision of a safe and welcoming environment for all participants. The successful candidate will supervise staff, manage facility resources, and collaborate with community stakeholders to meet the diverse needs of London’s residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate recreation staff, including part-time and seasonal employees.
  • Oversee daily operations of the recreation center, including facility rentals, program registration, and customer service.
  • Develop, implement, and assess a variety of recreational programs and activities for all age groups and abilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and accessibility standards within the facility.
  • Manage facility maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and operational budgets.
  • Handle public inquiries, resolve conflicts, and address feedback in a professional and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external community organizations to enhance program offerings and outreach.
  • Prepare reports on facility usage, program participation, and financial performance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for staff, participants, and visitors.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a recreation, leisure, or community services setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in recreation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations for recreational facilities.
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial records.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sports Management, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Experience with community engagement and partnership development.
  • Additional certifications in specialized recreation areas (e.g., aquatics, fitness, adaptive recreation).
  • Knowledge of municipal government operations and public sector policies.
