Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic for outdoor maintenance to join our team in Lyon. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functionality and availability of our Vélo’v bike fleet across the city. This involves conducting routine maintenance, repairs, and rebalancing activities directly at bike stations and on the streets of Lyon. You will be an ambassador for sustainable transport, working independently and as part of a dynamic team to keep our city moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks on all bicycle components (brakes, gears, tires, chains, etc.) directly at bike stations.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and minor electrical issues on bicycles in the field.
  • Utilize provided tools and technology to track maintenance tasks and bike status.
  • Rebalance bicycle inventory across stations to meet demand, ensuring bikes are available where and when needed.
  • Identify and report bikes requiring more extensive shop-based repairs or replacement.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company standards while working outdoors.
  • Provide friendly and helpful assistance to customers encountered in the field, representing Keolis professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work vehicle and tools.

Required Skills

  • Proven mechanical aptitude and experience with bicycle repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with smartphone applications for task management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move bicycles (up to 25 kg) and perform physical tasks associated with bike maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with a bike-share system or large bicycle fleet.
  • Certification in bicycle mechanics.
  • Familiarity with the geography of Lyon.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics related to e-bikes (if applicable to the fleet).
