Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and vigilant Security Guard to join our team in St Albans, Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and company assets. This role requires excellent observational skills, the ability to respond effectively to incidents, and a strong commitment to upholding security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of premises and perimeter areas, both on foot and via vehicle.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV, and promptly report any suspicious activity.
- Control access to the building, verifying identification and issuing visitor badges as required.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, taking appropriate action as per company policy.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
- Write detailed reports on observations, incidents, and activities during shifts.
- Provide assistance to employees and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Coordinate with emergency services during critical incidents.
Required Skills
- SIA Security Guarding license (or willingness to obtain before start date)
- Excellent observational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic first aid certification
- Physical fitness to conduct regular patrols and stand for extended periods
- Proficiency in written English for report writing
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security role (e.g., corporate, retail, or public sector)
- CCTV operator license
- Experience with access control systems
- Strong customer service skills
