Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Analytical Chemist to join our environmental testing team with a specialized focus on water and air quality analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting complex chemical analyses using various analytical instrumentation, interpreting results, and contributing to the validation and improvement of laboratory methods. This role is crucial in supporting our mission to provide accurate data that helps protect public health and the environment. You will work in a fast-paced laboratory setting, adhering to strict quality control standards and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform chemical analyses on water and air samples using techniques such as GC-MS, ICP-MS, IC, and wet chemistry methods.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and standards according to established SOPs.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance and data integrity.
- Interpret analytical data, validate results, and prepare comprehensive reports for clients.
- Adhere to strict quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) protocols and laboratory safety procedures.
- Participate in method development and validation studies to enhance laboratory capabilities.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively regarding project progress and challenges.
- Stay informed on current environmental regulations and analytical best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in an environmental testing laboratory
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation (e.g., GC-MS, ICP-MS, IC)
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., EPA methods)
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow strict protocols and maintain accurate records
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)
- Certifications in specific analytical techniques or environmental testing
- Familiarity with air quality monitoring and analysis techniques
- Experience with method development and validation
