Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Online Moderator to join our Trust & Safety team, specifically focusing on safeguarding our community of 13-year-old teens. In this critical role, you will monitor user-generated content, chat interactions, and other platform activities to ensure compliance with our strict safety guidelines. Your primary responsibility will be to identify and address inappropriate behavior, bullying, harassment, and other harmful content, ensuring a positive and secure online experience for young users. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of online youth culture and safety best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively monitor user-generated content, including text, images, and videos, for violations of community standards and safety policies.
- Review and respond to user reports of inappropriate behavior, taking swift and decisive action as per established protocols.
- Engage with users to provide guidance on safe online practices and clarify community guidelines in a helpful and approachable manner.
- Identify emerging trends in online risks and work collaboratively with internal teams to develop preventative measures and educational resources.
- Document moderation actions accurately and contribute to the ongoing improvement of moderation tools and processes.
- Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on platform changes, policy updates, and best practices in online safety.
- Collaborate with the Trust & Safety team to address complex moderation challenges and contribute to a safe and inclusive digital environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong empathy and understanding of challenges faced by teenagers online.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify subtle nuances in online interactions.
- Proven ability to make sound judgments quickly and impartially.
- Familiarity with various online communication platforms and digital safety tools.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with online administrative tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in online content moderation, customer support, or community management, particularly with youth audiences.
- Knowledge of child development and online safety principles.
- Experience with crisis intervention or de-escalation techniques.
- Proficiency in additional languages (Spanish preferred due to regional demographics).
