Job Description
As a Think Tank Graphic Designer specializing in Infographics & Layout at Google in Boulder, you will play a crucial role in translating complex research findings, data, and strategic insights into compelling visual narratives. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing high-quality infographics, data visualizations, reports, presentations, and other visual assets that communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to a diverse audience. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of visual hierarchy, and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers, strategists, and policy experts to bring their work to life. You will be an integral part of a forward-thinking team, helping to visualize the future of technology and policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative infographics, data visualizations, and visual summaries for research papers, reports, presentations, and digital platforms.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to understand complex concepts and translate them into clear, engaging, and accurate visual content.
- Ensure brand consistency and adherence to visual guidelines across all design projects.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, from concept to completion, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
- Stay updated with industry trends, design software, and best practices in data visualization and information design.
- Prepare files for various output formats, including print and digital.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in infographic design, data visualization, and layout
- Excellent understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy
- Proven ability to translate complex information into clear and compelling visual stories
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
- Experience working in a research institution, think tank, or a data-heavy environment
- Familiarity with UX/UI principles and digital design best practices
- Experience with animation or motion graphics software (e.g., After Effects)
- Understanding of data analysis tools and methods for better visualization
