Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Field Engineer specializing in Mechanical Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Austin, Texas. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with foundational mechanical engineering knowledge eager to gain hands-on experience in industrial settings. As a Field Engineer, you will be crucial in supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various mechanical systems and equipment for our clients. This role requires significant travel to client sites within the region, with per diem provided for expenses incurred during field assignments. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers, developing your skills and contributing to the reliability and efficiency of critical industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment at client sites.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on industrial machinery, pumps, valves, and rotating equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures and system malfunctions using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Support senior engineers in executing complex repairs and system overhauls.
- Document all service activities, including detailed reports of work performed, parts used, and system status.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while working in various industrial environments.
- Provide technical support and training to client personnel as needed.
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools and spare parts required for field service.
- Continuously learn and stay updated with new technologies and best practices in mechanical maintenance.
Required Skills
- Foundational knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and industrial machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various industrial environments.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
