Job Description
Join our team for a rewarding temporary position as a Pear Picker. This role involves traditional orchard work, contributing directly to bringing fresh, delicious pears from the trees to our stores. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to assist with the seasonal pear harvest in the beautiful orchards near Tunbridge Wells. This is a physically active role, ideal for those who enjoy working outdoors and are looking for flexible, seasonal employment with weekly payouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick pears from trees, ensuring minimal damage to fruit and branches.
- Sort and grade pears according to quality standards.
- Place picked fruit into designated crates or containers.
- Transport filled containers to collection points within the orchard.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and orchard protocols.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily harvest targets.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina for prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain or shine).
- Manual dexterity and attention to detail to handle delicate fruit.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural work or fruit picking.
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Local to the Tunbridge Wells area or reliable transport to the orchard.
