Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lubricants Specialist Chemist to join our automotive sector team in New Port Richey, FL. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the research, development, and testing of advanced lubricant formulations for various automotive applications. The Specialist Chemist will work on developing new products, improving existing ones, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing technical support to manufacturing and sales teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and development of new automotive lubricant formulations.
  • Perform detailed chemical and physical analysis of lubricants and their components.
  • Evaluate performance of new and existing products through various laboratory and bench tests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and marketing.
  • Troubleshoot formulation issues and optimize product performance.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards (e.g., API, ACEA, ILSAC) and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and analyses.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Stay current with advancements in lubricant technology and automotive trends.

Required Skills

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as FTIR, GC, viscometry, and spectroscopy.
  • Experience with lubricant formulation and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of tribology and surface chemistry principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with automotive OEM specifications and approval processes.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or R&D environment within the lubricants industry.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software and experimental design (DoE).
