Job Description

Spire Healthcare is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Sleep Clinic Night Technician (Trainee) at our Glasgow hospital. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to learn about sleep medicine and gain hands-on experience in monitoring patients during crucial diagnostic sleep studies. You will work as part of a supportive team, primarily during night shifts, ensuring the comfort and safety of our patients while meticulously collecting vital data. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone with a compassionate nature and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a comprehensive training programme to develop expertise in sleep diagnostics.
  • Learn to accurately set up and calibrate Polysomnography (PSG) equipment on patients.
  • Monitor patients overnight during sleep studies, observing physiological data, sleep patterns, and patient well-being.
  • Accurately document observations, events, and any patient-reported issues throughout the night.
  • Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and safety are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with troubleshooting minor equipment issues and preparing the clinic for subsequent studies.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and sterile work environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all clinical protocols, health and safety regulations, and patient confidentiality guidelines.

  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and report generation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare support role (e.g., healthcare assistant, care worker) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • An interest in physiology, neuroscience, or sleep medicine.
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
