Job Description
Veritext Legal Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Forensic Transcriptionist with a focus on Adliye/Legal Support to join our dedicated team in Lexington, KY. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for accurately transcribing audio and video recordings related to legal proceedings, investigations, and forensic analyses. This position requires exceptional listening skills, a deep understanding of legal terminology and procedures, and an unwavering commitment to confidentiality and precision. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various audio qualities and accents, maintaining strict adherence to transcription standards and deadlines within a fast-paced legal environment. Your contributions will directly support attorneys, law enforcement, and other legal professionals in their pursuit of justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Transcribe verbatim audio and video recordings of legal proceedings, interviews, witness statements, and forensic evidence.
- Ensure absolute accuracy, grammatical correctness, and proper formatting of all transcribed documents.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality protocols, data security guidelines, and legal transcription standards.
- Identify and flag unclear audio segments or discrepancies for clarification when necessary.
- Manage multiple transcription projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Conduct thorough research of legal and technical terminology to ensure precise usage.
- Collaborate with legal teams and other support staff to clarify requirements and deliver high-quality work.
- Maintain and update a personal glossary of specialized legal terms and acronyms.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in legal or forensic transcription.
- Exceptional proficiency in English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Advanced listening skills with the ability to discern multiple speakers and challenging audio.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and the judicial system.
- High level of proficiency with transcription software and office productivity tools (e.g., MS Word).
- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Type at a minimum of 75 WPM with high accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- Certification in Legal or Forensic Transcription.
- Experience with specialized forensic audio analysis software.
- Familiarity with various legal documentation styles and formats.
- Bilingual proficiency, especially in languages relevant to the local legal landscape.
