Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team in Sunderland. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply advanced analytical techniques, machine learning, and statistical modeling to solve complex business challenges and drive data-driven decision-making for our diverse client portfolio. You will work on cutting-edge projects, translating business problems into analytical solutions and delivering impactful insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and analytical solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform complex data analysis, identify trends, and derive actionable insights to support strategic initiatives.
  • Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of the data science community within Capgemini.
  • Develop and maintain robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality and availability for analytical projects.
  • Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, influencing business strategy.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and machine learning.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or a related analytical role.
  • Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Pandas, NumPy).
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
  • Expertise in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with MLOps practices and tools for model deployment and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Domain expertise in specific industries relevant to Capgemini's clients (e.g., Financial Services, Retail, Public Sector).
