Job Description

We are looking for enthusiastic and diligent individuals to join our team as Soft Fruit Harvesters for the summer vacation period. This temporary role is ideal for students seeking valuable work experience, fresh air, and a chance to earn money during their break. You will be responsible for carefully picking various soft fruits, ensuring quality and efficiency, and contributing to the smooth operation of our farm in the Blackburn area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully harvest soft fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.) by hand, following specific quality guidelines.
  • Pack harvested fruit into punnets or trays as instructed, ensuring presentation and quality.
  • Work efficiently to meet daily picking targets.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations on the farm.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Report any issues with fruit quality or plant health to a supervisor promptly.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain or shine).
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in agricultural work or fruit picking (not essential, full training provided).

  • Own transport or ability to commute to the farm location.
