Job Description

BayCare Health System is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Caregiver to join our team. This vital role involves providing personalized care and support to clients, helping them achieve greater independence and an enhanced quality of life. You will work closely with clients and their families, implementing care plans, assisting with daily living activities, and fostering a supportive and engaging environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care, including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor vital signs as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and exercise programs.
- Plan and engage clients in stimulating activities appropriate to their abilities and interests.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment for clients.
- Document care provided, observations, and any changes in client condition accurately and promptly.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Transport clients to appointments, errands, and community outings as needed.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, company policies, and ethical standards.
Required Skills
- Proven empathy and patience in caring for individuals with special needs.
- Ability to follow care plans and instructions meticulously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observational skills to identify and report changes in condition.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, including lifting and assisting with transfers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) as a caregiver, CNA, or in a related healthcare field.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience working with specific special needs populations (e.g., autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities).
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques.
