Job Description
We are seeking a reliable, trustworthy, and experienced Babysitter for casual night work within the St Albans area. This role is perfect for individuals looking for flexible hours, typically evenings and weekends, to provide ad-hoc childcare for families. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of children, following their routines, and providing engaging activities until parents return. A calm demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a genuine love for children are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during evening and night hours, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Follow established routines for bedtime, snacks, and activities.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities, such as reading, games, and creative play.
- Prepare simple meals or snacks as needed.
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment during your shift.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's activities and any notable events.
- Handle minor first aid situations and emergency procedures confidently.
- Provide a nurturing and positive atmosphere for the children.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in babysitting or childcare (minimum 1 year).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to adapt to different family dynamics and children's needs.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
- A genuine passion for working with children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- References from previous childcare roles.
- Relevant childcare qualifications (e.g., CACHE, NNEB).
- Full UK driving license and access to a car.
