Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and empathetic Community Outreach Aide with a social focus to join the City of York Council. This pivotal role involves direct engagement with diverse communities across York, aimed at understanding their needs, disseminating vital information about local services, and connecting residents with appropriate support. You will be a crucial link between the council and its citizens, helping to build stronger community resilience and ensuring our public services are accessible and responsive. This on-site position requires a commitment to community interaction, event organization, and collaborative teamwork to achieve meaningful social impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute community outreach initiatives and events.
  • Engage actively with residents to understand their needs, concerns, and gather feedback on council services.
  • Disseminate information about local government services, welfare programs, and available resources.
  • Connect individuals and families with appropriate social support, health, and other public services.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and volunteers.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of community data to identify trends, gaps in services, and inform strategic planning.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on outreach activities, community engagement metrics, and service uptake.
  • Represent the City of York Council at public meetings, community forums, and stakeholder events.
  • Provide administrative support for outreach programs, including scheduling and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the diverse communities and demographics within the City of York.
  • Ability to speak additional languages prevalent in the local community.
