Job Description

EllisDon is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional looking to advance their career in Canada, with full visa sponsorship provided. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are completed within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk analysis to advise on cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage tender processes, including preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids.
  • Administer contracts, including valuation of variations and processing payments.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, final accounts, and claims.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to achieve best value for money.
  • Monitor and control project costs throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to resolve commercial issues and disputes.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in large-scale commercial or institutional projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial management principles.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional designation (e.g., PQS, RICS, or equivalent).
  • Experience with Canadian construction standards and regulations.
  • Fluency in multiple languages (asset, but not required).
  • Experience in sustainable construction practices or LEED-certified projects.
