Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Remote Patient Appointment Scheduler to join our dynamic Healthcare Call Center team. In this 100% remote role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, responsible for efficiently scheduling and rescheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and providing exceptional customer service. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, virtual environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and empathy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls to schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Accurately collect and update patient demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions regarding their appointments, including preparation, required documents, and directions.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and address scheduling conflicts.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Resolve patient inquiries and provide assistance with a professional and empathetic demeanor.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Meet or exceed established performance metrics for call volume, accuracy, and quality.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven customer service experience, preferably in a call center environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism.

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g., medical office, hospital, clinic).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and scheduling software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web).
