Job Description
Join the Noggins Corner Farm Market team as a Seasonal Apple Picker! This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are looking for temporary, physically active work during the harvest season. You will be responsible for carefully picking apples by hand, ensuring quality and minimizing damage, and contributing to our farm’s success. This role offers a piece rate bonus structure, rewarding your productivity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Hand-picking apples from trees according to quality standards and ripeness guidelines.
- Carefully placing picked apples into bags, bins, or other containers without bruising.
- Operating and safely utilizing picking equipment such as ladders and picking bags.
- Following all farm safety protocols and instructions from supervisors.
- Working efficiently and effectively to meet daily picking targets.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area in the orchard.
- Assisting with other farm tasks as needed during the harvest period.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and physical labor for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, rain, heat, cold).
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail to ensure quality fruit selection.
- Ability to lift and carry moderate weights (up to 30 lbs) consistently.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural labor or fruit picking is an asset, but not required.
- Knowledge of various apple varieties and their harvest readiness.
- Basic understanding of orchard safety procedures.
